Greetings Brethren,
It is my sincere pleasure to serve as your Grand Chancellor for the ensuing year. Thank you for your support and especially your friendship. I look forward to a great year for our Pythian Fraternity. I have four goals this year: Ritual work, a positive public image, recruiting and mentoring and Grand Lodge support of your Lodge.
What sets us apart from other clubs and organizations is our Ritual. When we gather, we often talk about our own initiation and remark how poorly it was executed. Performing outstanding Ritual work demonstrates our commitment (or lack thereof), shows the candidate you took the time to care and do it right. This memory is lasting, and this first impression helps to maintain membership.
It is important that we represent Pythianism in a positive light. Our charitable work in our communities is outstanding and demonstrates the positive aspects of our Fraternity. All this work can easily be undone if we don't represent ourselves as true Brothers in our daily lives. How we treat each other in our Lodge needs to be extended to our community. Always remember, when we wear that Pythian emblem, we are held to a higher standard. When we took our oath as Knights, we made a commitment to uphold our Knightly Honor. I am simply asking that you keep this in mind in your daily endeavors.
Recruiting quality new members is the lifeblood of any organization; more especially ours. Keep in mind in our push to recruit, not everyone is suited to become a Knight. I am asking that you spend time in your lodge to establish a relationship with that potential Page and tie him to a seasoned Knight. The purpose is to guide the new man, to mentor him, to answer questions, call him, sit with him, and build a real relationship that can pay huge dividends later for your lodge. It just makes sense. Remember how it felt when you walked into your lodge for the first time.
I believe the Grand Lodge exists to support our Lodges. I want to make it clear that every Knight in this Grand Lodge is important. This year's Grand Lodge leadership is committed to support our Lodges and not the other way around. Talk to your Grand Lodge Officers and simply ask.
In closing, my goals support our fraternity as a pillar in the community. Our charities demonstrate our principles of Friendship, Charity, and Benevolence, and our collective positive attitudes will help us to recruit and maintain membership. I plan to visit each Lodge this year. I have already installed three Chancellor Commanders. I am so encouraged with the new leadership. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. Please seize the opportunity in 2022 to renew your commitment as a Knight of Pythias. We can make a real difference in the lives of others!
